Show us your stubs, cause The Rad Carpet is unfurling at the theater!
Siblo and Whalen take a quick breather from the film club curriculum to share some thought on a few high-profile newer releases, tackling both the universally adored Lady Bird and the sublime rural drama Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri, as well as Pixar’s Coco, Marvel’s much-ballyhooed Thor: Ragnarok, the Safdie brothers’ Good Time, and the Netflix-distributed Mudbound. The fellas also take the occasional side tangent to talk MoviePass, chemically altered Mr. Pibb, Ol’ Marble Mouth, and that much maligned Pixar Frozen short. That’s six films and a boat load of takes in under an hour–dig in, get rad!
What’s your favorite new release from 2017? Is there a film discussed here that you think we oversold or unfairly poo-poo’d? Did you actually like the Frozen short? Share your takes with us on Twitter (@theradcarpet), via email (theradcarpet@gmail.com), or in the comment section below!
And don’t forget, we’ll be flapping our fins through Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water next time around, along with the director’s 2015 gothic horror/romance Crimson Peak–stay tuned, stay rad!
