Hold onto your earbuds, folks, cause The Rad Carpet is back with one final episode on Edgar Wright.
Before they flee the scene, Thom, Whalen, and CJ5000 have takes a-plenty on Wright’s widely acclaimed film Baby Driver. Suffice it to say, the Carpet is not shimmying along to the critical consensus. Once the Baby Dribble… ahem, Baby Driver takes have cooled down, there’s a mercifully brief “Wall to Wall Carpet” segment, reviewing Wright’s use of pop music throughout his filmography and wrapping up some general impressions of his work as a whole. There’s also a round of “In or Out?” on the docket, as the bad boys of film podcasting vroom-vroom their thoughts on Jim Carrey and Scarlett Johansson.
As always, this here Carpet is an all-inclusive club, one that we want you to be a part of, so please do share your takes in the comments section below. Was the Carpet too hard on Wright, on Baby Driver, and on the critics who have made this film the talk of the summer? Did our thoughts on ScarJo get under your skin? Will somebody stop these Jim Carrey takes?!?
Have a look at our viewing schedule for the remainder 2017–next month we’ll be watching four films from Korean director Bong Joon-ho, including his new Netflix exclusive Okja. Keep an eye out on this site and on Twitter for our next episode, which will cover 2006’s The Host and 2009’s Mother, both available for streaming on Netflix. Indeed, being part of The Rad Carpet is simply a matter of grabbing that remote and letting the takes unfurl.
If you’re looking for ways to contribute to the pod and help us continue to unfurl the Carpet with pride, head over to our pages on iTunes and Stitcher and throw us a rating and review–we’d really appreciate it.
Happy listening and happy movie-ing… stay rad!
