Episode 10 is live!

 

The Rad Carpet is dumping toxic takes straight into the Han River in this, its first of two episodes on the work of Bong Joon-Ho.

Join Thom, Whalen, and CJ5000 as they explore two of Bong’s odd and beguiling early-period Korean films, including his hit monster drama The Host and his overlooked neo-noir Mother. But first, the guys have some Carpet Cleaning to take care of, rewatching and reassessing the 1990 romcom favorite Pretty Woman.

Episode 9: Live from The First Annual Rad Carpet Movie Marathon!

Live from Rad Carpet’s old stomping grounds on Staten Island, NY, Thom, Whalen, and CJ5000 offer a quick recap of the first annual Rad Carpet Movie Marathon!

Your Carpeteers, bleary-eyed after a robust schedule of watching movies and housing pizza and bagels, reflect on the weekend with lightning-round takes on all 12 of the films they watched together, including the new Marvel film Spider-Man: Homecoming, Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, Russ Meyer’s Ebert-penned Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Andrzej Zulawski’s Possession, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood.

Our first episode on Korean auteur Bong Joon-Ho, covering The Host and Mother, is in the can and set to drop later this week, soon to be followed by an episode covering Bong’s American films, including his 2013 hit Snowpiercer and the recently released Netflix exclusive Okja.

Episode 8! Baby Driver takes!

Hold onto your earbuds, folks, cause The Rad Carpet is back with one final episode on Edgar Wright.

Before they flee the scene, Thom, Whalen, and CJ5000 have takes a-plenty on Wright’s widely acclaimed film Baby Driver. Suffice it to say, the Carpet is not shimmying along to the critical consensus. Once the Baby Dribble… ahem, Baby Driver takes have cooled down, there’s a mercifully brief “Wall to Wall Carpet” segment, reviewing Wright’s use of pop music throughout his filmography and wrapping up some general impressions of his work as a whole. There’s also a round of “In or Out?” on the docket, as the bad boys of film podcasting vroom-vroom their thoughts on Jim Carrey and Scarlett Johansson.
